Georgia chefs on ‘Great Soul Food Cook-Off’

“Soul food, for me, is everything.”

So begins the first episode of “The Great Soul Food Cook-Off,” a new cooking competition on discovery+. In this six-episode series, eight Black chefs from around the country face off in challenges designed to highlight the past and present of soul food. The winner takes home $50,000 — and, of course, bragging rights.

The show is produced by Good Egg Entertainment, the company behind Food Network’s “Chopped,” and is overseen by the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Food Network star Nancy Fuller to give virtual cooking class

CANANDAIGUA, NY — An old friend is coming back virtually to New York Kitchen later this month, and once again, she will help you make your fall kitchen table spread even more appealing. Not only that, two more familiar names in their fields also will be visiting.

Nancy Fuller, who is co-owner of Ginsberg’s Foods, the host of Food Network series “Farmhouse Rules” and cookbook author, will be giving a virtual cooking class live via Zoom from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21. 

Fuller, along with a chef instructor from New York Kitchen, will help prepare a menu that includes spicy chicken and chips, chili in a mug, and F.R.O.G. jam flatbreads (as in figs, raspberries, oranges and ginger, not Kermit and his family tree).
